On Being Swiss

Catalina Island

semi-overcast

"Did I mention we are Swiss". Here is the secret ( or the curse):

TIMING: up at the crack of dawn and tendered to Catalina Island. We must get there early to avoid crowds. A quick breakfast since our stomachs are a bit off today...all the traveling, you know. We are on the first tender and on the island by 7:45am. We are never ever late! (Did I say ever?) but, if we ever are late, send out the cavalry because something is wrong. "it's a sleepy little town...yeah..so sleepy that nobody is up or open for business when we get there. LOL!!! We walk up and down the blocks like two lost kids, looking in windows and asking people " what time do the stores open?"

PRECISENESS: so...we ask three different people and get three different answers: "between 8:30 and 9:00, between 9:30 and 10:00" and finally, an honest answer "it's a sleepy little town...whenever. Nobody is in a rush here!!! " (They are obviously not on Swiss time! --- "Wanna buy a watch???"). Finally, things start opening up, we buy the best to be had on the entire island in about 40 minutes. Our stomachs are starting to growl just in time to get back on the ship for lunch and some sun.

TENACITY: we don't like lines and have to be the first at everything or try to be... and will persevere until we reach our goals. First ones back on ship, throw a towel on our lounge chairs to secure the best spots by the pool and once again...run to the buffet.

GOURMETS: Prosecco for our cocktail, prosciutto and melon for appetizer, lobster tails for dinner, molten chocolate cake and creme brûlée for dessert and birthday cake complete with waiters singing Happy Birthday to us!

ROCK STARS: we see one of the best Rock and Roll shows called "EPIC ROCK" that we ever saw. Very energizing show..Queen, Zeppelin...all of "our time" Rock and Roll". We were so into it that when it was over, we were exhausted, as if we had performed it ourselves.

That's it on a day in the life of "Being Swiss. ". It's time for these two Swiss Rock Stars to get some shut eye!

Good nite!
