SNOW GLOBE

Snowglobes were always magical to me. I would shake them up and watch it snow, fantasizing that I would be inside and it would be snowing ever-so quietly around me. They were so special...these snow globes; they were fun..they made me happy!

Mountain Trails Cross Country Ski Center in Tannersville, NY, is a "snow globe" place for me...it's a special place...one of those magical places to ski where, once on those trails... in the woods...you are at peace with the world. The trails are picturesque, complete with tall evergreens adorned with snow, skiers with their colorful hats and jackets gliding along the trails, scenic paths that take you alongside streams, ponds and reservoirs; So scenic, so serene....so quiet. Everyone you meet along the way is smiling. There is no way not to feel good here..surrounded by Mother Nature.

The skies are grey and it is beginning to snow as I take my last run late in this day. On one of the trails as I am gliding along, enjoying nature, I can actually hear the snow hitting the hemlocks. I stop for a moment and just watch the snow come down. In fact, I stop several times on my way back to the lodge to take it all in..I don't want it to end....I am living that fantasy, inside that snowglobe!

As I arrive back at the lodge, there is a colorful busy-ness...skiers in their brightly colored hats and jackets with their ski's, poles and snowshoes. As I open the door to the lodge..I hear laughter ...and stories about adventures on the trails. The woodstove is glowing...a place to warm up and sip a hot cocoa after a day on the trails....a great place to reminisce with friends, old and new.

As I meet up with my friends, also just coming in from a day in the great outdoors, I can not help but think...these are truly happy trails..at Mountain Trails.
