Blue Dunes....Pink Dunes....
07.27.2015 - 08.01.2015
Its early and the sun is already trying to peek thru the clouds. We are actually having a sun-shower right now. I snap some great photos this morning as I have already gone through my coffee routine and sit here sipping my wonderful brew and contemplating today's activities... This house sits right on the waters edge. I breathe in that salty air. Two of my favorite experiences already, the coffee, the sea. The sites, the sounds, the smells, the feel of it all..Cape Cod. I'm a lucky, lucky girl, I love and appreciate every moment of this experience. I'm actually feeling the warmth of the sun as it rises...and...what is that I see in the distance? There are seals in the bay! I spot one and snap a photo. What a day already! Ricky wanders down and like a little kid gives me "seal alerts" every few minutes as to when and where their little heads are bobbing up and down....it is moments like these, where time seems to stand still that I realize are so special. Both of us totally relaxed and experiencing nature at its best..not a care in the world. These are the times of our lives... special. Dougie is the next one to saunter onto the porch this morning, then Jo, Jane, Bevie and Denny. Three of us are going bike riding today, Dougie is planning on running and we've elected him to be our pace-setter.
Bikes are rented at Gale Force Bike Rentals. Two bicycles, one basket..."helmets?", we're asked..."no thanks, we are "live free or die" kind of girls. Jo rides her bike and meets us there.....off we go. It feels so good to be getting some exercise. We ride the trail through the vast dune system of the Province Lands. Depending on where the sun is shining, the dunes have a pink and blue hue to them today. We pedal up and down those hills, through the dunes and the beech forest...a tract of land with extensive tree cover. We meet Dennis at the Visitors Center and take a few more photos for our collection. We hit the road once again and meet up with Bevie and Doug, who are walking and running as their choice of fitness. It is time to head back to the bike store to return the bikes and pick up the new floatation devices we purchased. To make it easy on us, they are being inflated...fitting them into a VW bug to get them home is going to be the challenge. Oh well...where there is a will, there is a way. We manage to fit them into the car and it is quite a comical sight as we drive home. We now have all the equipment we need for our activities this week. Ready, set, go!
We BBQ some burgers and hot dogs, make a big salad.... and lunch is served. It's a great day so far...we rode bikes, Bevie and Dougie took their hike, Dennis was out and about, Ricky had walked to town and back and Jo was fixing Bevies IPad..( she had over 4500 messages...yes, you read it correctly 4500 unread messages). Apparently these messages were creating a problem with Bevies IPad and her receiving mail (ya think?) Well, if anyone can fix it, Jo can. Everyone had an active day so far. The sun chairs are calling our names....Jane and I are longing to try our new floats but the temperature just dropped a bit and the water is a a little too choppy. Tomorrow is another day and some time floating on the water is definitely on our agenda.
Four of us opt in for Ptown tonight. Ricky and I walk in, Jane and Denny take a ride back to the Visitors Center and try to catch the sunset. We run into each other in town and we are still going in opposite directions. They had driven in and mentioned that if we want to ride home with them, we were welcome to do that. About an hour later, we are ready to call it a night. As luck would have it...we arrive at the bus stop and someone is flashing their lights from the parking lot...guess who???
Homeward bound....
